Nancy Linkin's passion for metalsmithing began in her early twenties when she became captivated by the age-old process of forming metal directly with hammers. To create her handmade jewelry she uses the anticlastic raising technique. Flat patterns are cut from sheets of metal and systematically hammered over specialized tools. The final forms are filed, sanded, and buffed to a high polish to accentuate the sculptural lines. Her Looping Earrings are handmade from Sterling Silver and 18 Karat Yellow Gold Bimetal and are 1.6” long.
(Nancy Linkin passed away after a long fight with breast cancer in June 2019. In accordance with her wishes, Luke Sunde, her longtime friend and employee, and Liz Allen are continuing to produce her designs so that others may be inspired by the natural forms and fluid grace of her sculptural jewelry.)
